A break from my usual automotive musings - I'm nostalgia tripping right now (and this may take a while). The Philippine English dub of Choudenji Machine Voltes V holds a special place in the hearts of a generation of Filipinos. Those who were dismayed as its first run on Philippine TV was cancelled by then president Ferdinand Marcos because it was "subversive" (the Emperor of the evil Boazanian empire did steal his throne, hmm so it was subversive) and those who later fell in love with the show but were denied the "subversive" ending, these are we and we are LASER SWORD GENERATION!
Notes:The original japanese name of the sword was Tenku-Ken, or Heaven's Sword, but "Laser Sword" was what it was called in the local dub and so "Laser Sword" it is to a whole generation of Phlips. Also, I got the title/phrase from a Mazinger Z poster that said "We Are Rocket Punch Generation" and adapted it for use here.
